We are going to the Science Center today. The theme is Owl Pellets…yup, that would be owl hairballs/vomit. I think we are going to dissect it to see what the owl has been eating.

Spelling: pg 63; spelled words aloud (all correctly)

Math: +3 flashcards. 2nd day doing +3 and already know some by heart

*Beautiful outdoors (mid 70’s supposedly…we shall see).  When we are done school we plan to play outdoors and make rice krispy squares.

Right now we are taking a break from language (First Language Lessons) and history (Story of the World).  The reason for this we have decided to give extra concentration to math (as we have been sorefully neglecting math thus far this year).  I wasn’t really excited about doing math, but now I am and am progressing quickly.  And we are also reading every day of course, but I don’t really need to be encouraged to do that at all.  I love reading.  We are also still working everyday on spelling (Spelling Workout).  Spelling is not my favorite subject.  I love science (currently Kingfisher First Encyclopedia of Animals) though and we do that almost everyday.

My mom is thinking of ordering me a math program called Math-U-See (MUS).  She has heard great things about it.  For now she has been making me homemade math sheets for a couple of weeks now.  I am working on addition such as 79+23=  And subtraction such as 79-23=  I need to work on adding and subracting higher single digits together though.  Like 9+5, 8+6, 9-5, 8-6….I can do these easily with manipulatives.  And in MUS there is a certain pattern with blocks for manipulatives.  For now I am doing all the addition and subtraction in my head and we haven’t gotten to those yet (when not using manipulatives).

I can recognize numbers through the 10,000’s place such as 96,254.  And now the different place values (1’s, 10’s, 100’s, 1000’s, 10000’s).

I am becoming quite the time teller.  We work on reading clocks and I am really doing quite well at it.

Soon we will be working on money again as well.  And higher single digit addition/subtraction.

Got to see and touch a lobster, horseshoe crab, sea cucumbers, hermit crab, all kinds of shells, and sands from different places…so fun.  Got to see but NOT touch a sea anemone.

Yesterday I had two long talks with mom.  I wanted to know about repentance.  My mom  had mentioned the word on Sunday and I didn’t really know what it meant. We talked for a long time about it.  I really repented for the first time yesterday.  And we talked about forgiveness.
Then later in the day my mom was getting laundry out of the dryer.  Ry and I were with her.  And I closed the door to the bathroom/laundry room.  Mom asked me why I closed the door.  I told her that I didn’t think she would want to know.  I didn’t want to scary mommy.  But mommy reassured me that I could tell her anything.  I told her it was because I was scared that a coyote would come in and try to eat us.  My mom held up her thumb and said “What is this?”  I told her.  Then she held up her long fingers and asked if coyotes had long fingers.  I told her no, but they had sharp claws.  She told me “Sharp claws cannot open doors.  A coyote could not open the doors to our house to get in.  And she told me that most animals are just as scared of humans as we are of them and that they usually don’t come around humans that much.  I told her that I feel scared a lot.  We talked about how Heavenly Father is strong and if we ask for his help he will help us.  That nothing and no one is stronger than Heavenly Father.  And that when I am scared I can ask for help from mommy, daddy, and Heavenly Father any time at all.  And I don’t have to be worried that I will scare them.

My mom said I went once when I was really little, but I don’t remember. And I just went down one bunny hill with Lizzie helping me. But today my grandparents, aunts, and uncles that live at home are taking me skiing hopefully. I am really, really, really excited!!!!! Yay!!!!!!!!!
